How PrestaShop Search feature Works?

You first, need to login to the admin section of your PrestaShop installation. Then go to the admin menu Preferences ïƒ Search.

Here there is a section by the name Indexation which provides information on the number of products that can be searched through the shop’s search function and compares it to the number of products present in the database. In the rare case that the value does not match the number of products in your store you need to select the option ‘Add missing products to the index’.
If you scroll down all the way till the bottom you will come across a section by the name ‘Weight’, which allows you to configure the behavior of the shop’s search function.

Besides this it is possible to make several other settings like AJAX search which enables results hinting simultaneously as you type in the search box. Another feature is called Instant search which enables the feature that displays the results as soon as the user writes the query. Two other options include the minimum word length to choose the minimum size of the word registered in search index and the list of blacklisted words.
